Monday Outfit: A Chic Look for Fall

Monday Outfit: A Chic Look for Fall

As the next wave of the pandemic rolls in, we’re confronting a winter spent at home.  Kyle and I had a conversation this weekend about what we will feel safe doing, and the list wasn’t very long.  But one thing we like to do is a get a coffee from a shop near our house and walk the neighborhood.  And this outfit would be perfect for that.

This outfit from Styled Snapshots mixes simple pieces in a palette of neutrals to create an outfit that still feels fresh.  Most of us probably have similar pieces in our wardrobe already, so this is an easy outfit to recreate.

Coat // Herringbone coats are particularly scarce this fall.  This Sandro coat in a mixed grey melange is about the closest thing that I could find.  But I think the critical elements are the color and the slim-fitting shape.  So I would give this Express coat, this H&M belted coat, and this tailored ASOS coat a look.

Sweater // I prefer this lighter camel sweater from Halogen to the darker tan.  But if you’re into the unexpected look of a Bourbon-colored sweater, this Express sweater with a balloon sleeve is worth a look.  I also like this mocha-colored sweater from Target.  This side-button crewneck from Talbot’s has a cool look and comes in plus-size and petite.

Shirt // Banana Republic usually has the best button-ups.  This Riley Fit shirt is a favorite of mine.  If you want something a bit looser fitting, try this oversized shirt.

Jeans // I have a pair of open knee black jeans and I reach for them whenever I need to lift my look a bit.  They’re just a fun, stylish way to bring a casual outfit new life.  This pair from Topshop is an affordable option.  These Paige Hoxton jeans are a nice designer option.  And if you’re petite, try Madewell.

Shoes // I’m not sure I would choose mules for walking around, but I sure like the look of them.  These Madewell Gemma Mules are a nice choose for an at-home shoe that isn’t a slipper.  I would probably select these Calvin Klein Hannah Loafers instead.  Wide feet?  These Franco Sarto loafers are a nice option.

Accessories // These Kendra Scott earrings and a pair of simple aviators finish off the look.

Styling // I have a feeling makeup wearing will continue to be sporadic this fall.  But I’ve been styling my hair almost every day with my beloved Conair hot rollers.  Just dry your hair, roll it up, and let it style itself.
