Rethinking Dark Winter Lipstick Shades with Rouge Hermès

We’re deviating from dark, intense shades to ones that are light and natural on the lips. And with good reason – hear us out.

Deep burgundy. Gothic plum. Alluring claret. When we think about painting our pout in autumn and winter, we intuitively embrace the dark side of things. It’s also unofficially lipstick season – the wonderful time of the year when your makeup gets a well-deserved break from summer’s relentless heat.

This year, it might not be the weather in the way of our dark lip agenda but the mask-wearing new normal surely poses its challenges. For one, we’re running the risk of our lipstick smudging à la Pennywise. The horror. And the mess.

Rather than taking the chances with dark lip formulas, we’d much rather refocus the intensity to the eyes and keep the lips soft and natural. The latest limited-edition additions to Rouge Hermès  – the French maison’s line of beauty –  ticks all our boxes.  Each shade of pink, reflective of the works of fine artists – the silent perspectives of Charles Sheeler, the calm beauty of the still life and domestic landscapes by John Register and Arduino Cantàfora, the abstract compositions of Jean Hélion – proposes a luxurious yet subtle coat of paint for the pout on a fancy-schmancy evening out. Formulated with matte and satin finishes, we’d bet our money on these to not create a mess underneath our face masks.

Just in time for the holiday season, the limited-edition lippies will be available for purchase from November onwards at all of the brand’s local boutiques as well as on their website.
