At this point, after months on end of days melting into one, you might have lost all concept of time. To catch you up to speed, in a matter of merely two days, we’d be in the last quarter of the year. Let that sink in for a moment.
Duly, sweater weather is upon us. But not quite, yet. We’re straddling the awkward interim period when the temperatures start to dip but not low enough for us to pull out the winter coats and turtleneck sweaters. While there’s still another month or two before winter comes into full swing, trans-season wardrobe pieces will weather us through the days of fluctuating temperatures.
Amongst cutout sweaters and cropped knits, a particular forsaken relic from dear Grandpa’s wardrobe has taken to the limelight. In the past couple of weeks, sweater vests have gone from being the poster child for uncool to being a pièce de résistance in the outfit anatomy of Instagram’s It girl posse.
A real team player in winter dressing, sweater vests are adept to an entire spectrum of low(-ish) temperatures. For our fellow tropic dwellers, they are a breathable stand-in for sweaters on cold, rainy days that can get real humid real quick. Elsewhere, they make for easy layering pieces when the temperatures are proper cold. They are sweaters that can do both.
Rather than borrowing from the boys, we’re going looking in our Grandpa’s closet. Oh, and, meanwhile taking copious notes on how to style them from our favorite leading ladies over on the ‘gram.
