7 Of London’s Best Rooftop Bars You Can Visit Now

If you haven’t already heard – we’re going out again. It’s a little different to what we’re used to i.e. there’s plenty of booking involved so, since we’re expecting some bursts of sunshine later this week, we thought we’d help you out in some weekend planning. There’s plenty of rooftops you can visit in London to get your perfect dose of something social, great views and a hint of Vitamin D – but which to pick? We’ve put together a list of our current favourites so you can discover seven of London’s best rooftop bars you can visit right now. But remember: stay safe, keep your distance, follow the venue’s guidelines, wear a mask and keep washing those hands…

1. Bar Elba, Waterloo

Starting off with a real crowd-pleaser, Bar Elba based in the central location of Waterloo is great for an authentic feel of somewhere tropical. The decor is bright and fun with plenty of places to sit and stand of course accompanied by some stellar views of the city. We’d recommend this for a day falling into night time frame so you can make the most of its summertime feel as well as its dripped-in-fairy-lights nighttime scene.

2. Madison, St Paul’s

A popular choice for something a little fancier falls in the hands of Madison, boasting a crisp and clean aesthetic with perfect views of St Paul’s Cathedral. Both the cocktail and food menu are amongst some of the best but bear in mind the outdoor space is a little smaller so it’s important to book in advance to make sure you don’t miss out.

3. The Rooftop, St James’

Again, more of a premium destination, The Rooftop at St James’ sits prettily at the top of Trafalgar Hotel in the West End. If you’re all about the landmarks – this one is for you. Expect to see Nelson’s Column, the London Eye and more when sipping on some handcrafted cocktails. Not to mention, when the weather’s not playing ball, cosy blankets and outdoor heaters are at your service.

4. Radio Rooftop, Covent Garden

We could all do with a little escapism right now – cue Radio Rooftop where the decor changes seasonally so you can always expect to find something new. And, when it comes to the views, they’re impressive, to say the least. We’re talking views across the Thames and the skyline stretching from the Shard to Big Ben – it’s not to miss!

5. Sky Garden, Bank

A firm favourite for both Londoners and tourists alike is the ever-popular Sky Garden, famous for its free views of the city. It’s London’s highest public garden so you can only imagine the views you’ll get to take in. We also love it for its DJ nights which have now returned on Friday and Saturdays from 9pm making this a total hotspot for any evening plans.

6. Upper 5th, Shoreditch

Taking things East, The Courthouse Hotel in Shoreditch is a tucked-away gem showing unbeaten panoramic views of the East End. In the summer months (a.k.a. right now), you can also get excited about the weather permitting BBQ kitchen to go alongside their simple but classic drinks menu.

7. Coq D’Argent, Bank

We’ve found the perfect taste of Paris right here in London at Coq D’Argent where you can be eye to eye with some of the skyline’s most iconic skyscrapers. The terraces and gardens are arguably the most picturesque backdrops of them all and, with a mix of its much-loved grill menu and late-night Friday DJ sessions, you really can have it all.
